M.A. in English


The M.A. in English gives students a choice of three areas of concentration:

Teaching assistantships, graduate fellowships, and scholarships are available on a limited basis. All courses are taught by full-time faculty members and are offered on weekdays (in the late afternoon and evening), and occasionally on Saturdays.

The English Department maintains a vibrant presence online with our blog -- The Longest Island -- and with our various social media channels. We also publish three literary journals. Downtown Brooklyn: A Journal of Writing is the literary magazine of the English Department. Brooklyn Paramount is the print literary magazine of the Creative Writing MFA program. And visceral brooklyn is the online literary magazine of the Creative Writing MFA program.

Clubs & Events

The English Department organizes a variety of programs and occasional events that provide students with valuable opportunities to meet and mingle with fellow students, with members of the faculty, and with a wide range of guest speakers and other campus visitors.
