M.S. Ed. in Educational Leadership (School Building Leader)

The Master of Science in Educational Leadership is a 36 credit Master’s program that leads to eligibility for New York State certification as a School Building Leader. It may also assist the graduate in meeting the requirements for principal in New Jersey. The M.S. Ed. may lead to School District Leader certification, depending on qualifications. The program is designed to prepare personnel at the school and district level to:

  1. Gain insight and understanding of the qualities that make an effective educational leader;
  2. Acquire a clear understanding of school laws, personnel and business concepts;
  3. Successfully evaluate, understand and improve educational programs through effective research methods;
  4. Understand the practical and financial operation and administration of public schools;
  5. Understand and develop human relationship techniques that lead to productive decision-making;
  6. Learn curriculum design through participation in development activities;
  7. Apply theories, knowledge and skills learned through an intensive administrative internship.
