The course will include presentation and discussion of contemporary treatment approaches for the adult neurologic patient. Course work covered will be in two areas: current nonspecific treatment approaches; and current treatment regimens of selected specific neurologic disorders. The philosophy, theoretic basis and principles of each approach will be presented and discussed. Emphasis will be placed upon integration of information with contemporary literature. Three credits.

The theories of learning and motor learning will be applied to the instruction of clients, students and health-care providers. Application of these methods will also be made to the role of the student supervisor. Students will develop a learning package including objectives, evaluation tools, learning and teaching experiences. Two or three credits. Advanced graduate students will complete a substantive project for the additional credit.

This course is designed to provide the clinical physical therapist with a working knowledge of scientific inquiry as it is applied in physical therapy research. Students will develop the ability to critique and evaluate physical therapy and related literature for research design, methodology, statistical analysis and for the appropriateness of the author's conclusions. The components of a master+s thesis or initial research project will be discussed. Three credits.

The student will identify an administrative or organizational problem, review theoretical and practical solutions based on current management literature, and propose a solution to the original problem. with respect to agreed-upon outcomes upon which the student will be judged. Pass/Fail only.
