Center for Business Research
Information for Faculty
The CBR welcomes all Business Program faculty. Please drop in or make an appointment so
we can give you a tour of the library and show you the business resources
available to you. Contact Martha Cooney.
Acquisitions
Business faculty are welcome to suggest new
books and periodicals for the business collection. Contact Elizabeth Mezick
for reference book recommendations and Martha Cooney
for journal recommendations. To make
recommendations for the circulating book collection, contact the Acquisitions
Department.
Research Support
The CBR librarians
can help faculty, and their assistants, identify relevant print and electronic
resources for their research projects. Material from the CBR collections can be
photocopied for you and charged back to your departmental budget number.
Please be aware that the Library abides by current copyright law. If you
do not find the material you are looking for, please contact a business librarian.
Interlibrary loan is also available
for items that the Library does not own.
Research by Appointment
In addition to online reference assistance,
email assistance,
telephone assistance, and, of course, visiting the library
whenever you need to, you can now also make an appointment
with a librarian to get intensive one-on-one
research assistance and undivided attention. The library has
many online and hardcopy resources that many
people are unaware of, and the databases have many advanced
features for pulling up the desired results. People
often think that they've tried all the possibilities and become
convinced that the information that they need does
not exist when there are still many more options. Make an appointment for a private
consultation with a librarian by calling 516-299-4138 or
516-299-4139.
Instruction Programs
The CBR provides instruction
programs for your students. We are also available to help in planning research
assignments for your students, and encourage you to share assignments with us
so that we can provide an even higher level of research support.
Database Instruction for Faculty
For faculty members who want to find out more about
the library's databases but can't come to us: we'll come to
you. The library is offering a new program for faculty in
which you can make an appointment for a librarian to come
to your office at your convenience to demonstrate the latest
databases. If you prefer, you can make an appointment for
instruction in the library. Just email or call Jean Uhl, chair of the
Library Liaison Committee
(juhl@liu.edu, x2837), or
Larry Kirschenbaum
(ljkirsch@liu.edu, x2704)
to make the appointment or for further details.
Reserves
The library can place materials on reserve
for classroom use. Please contact the Circulation/Reserve Department at ext.
2303 for further details on print and electronic reserves.
Liaison Program
Library liaisons are an important link
between the classroom faculty and the library faculty. Business librarians have been
assigned as liaisons to the following departments:
