ProQuest databases (available on campus and remotely) provide a wealth of full-text information for academic research. In addition to the general Research Library, ProQuest offers a choice of specialized databases, including ABI Inform and PsycInfo.

ProQuest databases provide access to thousands of general interest and scholarly journals in a wide range of subject areas such as:

ProQuest enables you to:

• print your citation list in APA, MLA, AMA, or Turabian citation styles
• e-mail articles, export citations or create a bibliography
• search a specific publication for articles

Using Basic Search in ProQuest:

• Enter search terms
• Choose Scholarly (& peer reviewed) journals
• Click Search

Find only full text articles? Check the "Full text documents only" box Search for an exact phrase? Use Quotation Marks around your terms Include multiple databases in your search? Click the "Select multiple databases" link and check off the databases to use in your search Find multiple forms of a word? Place * after the root of the word Expand your results? Use "or" to combine terms Narrow your results? Use "and" to combine terms

ProQuest Smart Search:

For alternatives to the terms you've selected, try "Suggested Topics" or "Browse Suggested Publications."

ProQuest's advanced features can save time and yield more specific results on your topic.

• Use the Advanced Search tab to search by author, subject, document title, publication title, company, product, or person.

• Add up to 4 additional search boxes to combine keywords, choose document type, etc., to focus your search.

  Hint: Search Operators ("or", "and") help to expand or narrow your search

• Use the Topic Guide tab to browse suggested topics or search for terms similar to those you've chosen.

• Use the Publication Search tab to browse or search for a particular journal, magazine or newspaper title.

ProQuest also lets you limit your search to:

• full text materials
• scholarly and peer-reviewed journals
• document type, such as:

  Interview	Cover Story	Reviews (Arts)
  Statistics	Speech	Product Reviews

Final Tips

• Use the "mark article" feature to
  • build and save your bibliography
  • print it in the citation style you choose
  • e-mail the citation or full text

• Note: Choosing ProQuest from the Library's Alphabetic list of databases includes all ProQuest databases in your search. Choosing ProQuest Research Library from the Library's Alphabetic or Subject list of databases (under General) will limit your search to just the Research Library database.
