Goals:

  1. Provide an overview of ongoing federal, regional, and local planning efforts, spotlighting recent successes and efforts to fix known problems.
  2. Explore the strengths and limitations of New York Metropolitan Transportation Council’s regional transportation model as it relates to the Sustainable East End Development Strategies (SEEDS) process.
  3. Discuss mechanisms for improving public involvement in transportation planning and program implementation, whether through regional initiatives like SEEDS or town initiatives.
  4. Develop the framework for a stronger "multi-modal" and sustainable transportation system.
  5. Outputs: 50-page report/booklet that summarizes the conference’s key findings and recommendations.

Directions to Southampton College Campus of Long Island University.

Southampton College is situated between Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway east of the Shinnecock canal.

From the Long Island Expressway:

Take I-495 (the Long Island Expressway) East to exit 70, then turn right on Route 111 (follow the signs for Route 27 East/Montauk - Sunrise Highway). Take Route 27 (East) to Southampton College, Exit 7.

From Sunrise Highway

Alternately, take Route 27 (East) past signs for Route 24. Continue east until highway narrows and follow signs to Southampton College. The campus will be on your right.
