Message from the Dean
I want to personally welcome you to LIU Pharmacy (Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences at Long Island University). Our faculty are accessible and committed to mentoring you every step of the way toward your degree in the pharmaceutical sciences. The many LIU Pharmacy alumni in the area provide valuable career networking opportunities for our graduate students. The LIU – Brooklyn campus is a short subway ride to the world’s top pharmaceutical companies, academic centers, and teaching hospitals, and our STEM OPT-registered Ph.D. and M.S. degrees will position you for internship and career opportunities with these world class organizations.
Our pharmaceutics graduates hold leadership positions in Greater NYC’s industrial and cosmetic pharmaceutical companies. Our pharmacology/toxicology graduates work in the pharmaceutical private sector as well as Ivy League universities, or their academic equivalent. Our drug regulatory affairs M.S. program was the first in the U.S., and its graduates work in Big Pharma as well as the Food and Drug Administration as well as other government agencies. The M.S. in Pharmacy Administration degree opens the door to leadership positions in elite health systems and pharmacy institutions. As you progress toward graduation, you will develop strong oral and written communication skills, essential to any successful career. LIU’s English Language Institute is available as needed to help you meet university requirements and further develop all facets of your communication skills.
Our Brooklyn campus is in one of the most admired neighborhoods of NYC’s most popular borough. Its diversity reflects the fact that 180 countries are represented in Brooklyn and Queens. LIU Brooklyn was ranked the safest campus in NYC by the Daily Beast webzine. The NYC subway system has stations at LIU – Brooklyn, connecting you to all of Manhattan’s highlights: Times Square and the theater district, museums such as the Guggenheim, the Whitney and MOMA, Central Park, Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden. Locally, the campus is a short walk from great restaurants and shops, as well as the Barclays Center for concerts and professional sporting events.

LIU Pharmacy offers graduate curricula leading to the Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Ph.D.) degree, and the Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the following fields, as registered with the New York State Education Department: Pharmaceutics (with specializations in Industrial Pharmacy and Cosmetic Science), Pharmacology/Toxicology, Pharmacy Administration and Drug Regulatory Affairs.
