The 15-credit Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Education (Online) is for individuals with prior teaching certification and proficiency in a language besides English. The Advanced Certificate, also known as the Bilingual Education Extension, certifies students to teach in their original certification area in bilingual classrooms. Students completing the program are eligible for the extension once they have passed the New York State Teacher Certification Exam, the Bilingual Education Assessment (BEA) in the target language of instruction.
Please note, the Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Education (Online) is offered online as a Bilingual Extension through our Cross Campus Online Extension program and meets weekly via videoconferencing. Distance Learning Student Complaints
Students wishing to dispute or appeal an academic matter are encouraged to pursue the grievance processes identified in the campus Student Handbook or current Academic Bulletin. Complaints related to operational matters may be directed to the campus Registrar or Provost’s office. Students may also file a complaint with the New York State Department of Education, in Albany: www.highered.nysed.gov/ocue/COMPLAINTFORM.pdf.
