Description

Dr. Brian Gilchrist is an Assistant Professor at Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus) in the School of Health Professions.  He joined the Division of Athletic Training, Health & Exercise Science in 2016 from his previous appointment in the LIU Masters of Public Health program.  He holds a PhD in Behavioral & Community Health, a Master’s degree in Public Health, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.  He is an emerging specialist in community violence, dating violence, Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), translational research, adolescents, and minority populations.  Dr. Gilchrist also specializes in both qualitative and quantitative primary data collection, particularly with minority male populations in urban environments. He has also conducted health promotion interventions with various at-risk populations including urban adolescents, homeless, incarcerated men, and substance users and on three continents outside of North America including Africa, Asia, and Europe.
