Dr. Susan Villegas was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. After receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from West Virginia University, she pursued with her interest in Pediatrics and continued her training at the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics, she completed an ASHP-Accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency. After completing her residency, Dr. Villegas practiced in Texas at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. At Children’s in Dallas, Dr. Villegas’s primary focus was in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit. While in Dallas, Dr. Villegas learned about the practice of pharmacy as it applies to pediatric patients and how to improve medication safety in the world of technology in pharmacy.
After spending a number of years in Dallas, Dr. Villegas decided to head back home and she joined the faculty of the College of Pharmacy in 2010. She now spends her time teaching pharmacy students about the world of medicine for pediatric patients and how important medication safety is for a pediatric patient. Dr. Villegas also precepts pharmacy students on rotation in the Bronx at Montefiore Medical Center.
