Early Assurance Admission
Early Assurance students who complete the two-year pre-professional phase at LIU Brooklyn or Post and meet the stated progression requirements (see below) are priority placement in the first professional year (P-3) of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. High school students must submit an application to the LIU Admissions Office at the Brooklyn or Post campus. Candidates who specify pre-pharmacy on their application and who demonstrate academic success in high school will be offered a Guaranteed Admission, if available. Students offered priority placement in the professional phase of the Pharm.D. are expected to perform well in their pre-professional courses. The guaranteed admission to the doctoral phase of the highly selective Pharm.D. program is contingent upon the successful completion of criteria listed below.
Students who at any time discontinue eligibility for early assurance admission program will need to apply for progression through the regular admission process, which is very competitive and not guaranteed.
Regular Professional Phase Admission
Please note that the PHARMCAS Application deadline for Fall 2021 is May 3, 2021
Admission interviews begin in July. To ensure sufficient time for the application to be reviewed, the PharmCAS application should be submitted as early as possible, minimally 5-7 weeks prior to the application deadline.
Admission to LIU Pharmacy’s Pharm.D. program is both competitive and selective. Both LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post students with regular admission to the pre-professional phase (P-1, P-2) and students transferring from other institutions must apply for the professional phase of the Pharm.D. program ( P-3 – P-6). For all steps in the application process, it is the applicant’s responsibility to follow all instructions and meet all deadlines. Failure to do so might result in your application being canceled.
The following are the requirements to be considered for regular admission:
Completion of the pre-professional prerequisite coursework: Preference is given to students who complete all pre-pharmacy prerequisite coursework by the end of the spring semester of the admission year.
Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) is a service that enables applicants to generate one primary application that can be submitted to several PharmD degree programs. PharmCAS opens in July of each year. For the Long Island University College of Pharmacy the application must be electronically submitted on or before midnight Eastern Standard Time on May 3, 2021. To eliminate any unforeseen problems, it is recommended that you submit your PharmCAS application by mid-February, as PharmCAS verification can take 5-7 weeks. There is a separate non-negotiable fee required, payable to PharmCAS.
