Description

Heting Chu is a professor in the Palmer School of Library and Information Science. She came to LIU in September 1994. She earned her B.A. in library science from Peking University, China, her master’s degree in library and information science from McGill University, Canada, and her Ph.D. in information studies from Drexel University, Philadelphia. Professor Chu’s teaching and research interests include the use of information technology in library and information science, especially in the areas of information representation and retrieval, research methods, and scientific communication. While being well liked by both master’s and Ph.D. students for her teaching and advising, she has also received numerous citations to the eight books and 50 research articles she published from colleagues all over the world. In recognition of her research contribution, the Professional Association in Education Phi Delta Kappa Chapter 1524, LIU Post awarded her Lifetime Research Award in 2013. Long Island University in 2021 awarded her the David Newton Award for Excellence in Teaching. Professor Chu’s services to the university and the field are offered at local, national, and international levels.
