Description
Dr. Michele Dornisch is a professor in the Teaching and Learning Department at LIU Post. Her background is eclectic, focusing on English Literature and Instructional Design with a background in Educational Psychology. She primarily teaches courses in educational psychology, developmental disabilities, and human development (which are offered in the undergraduate psychology program), and she has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses addressing methods of teaching (for adolescent education), curriculum and assessment, research, and educational technology. She was formerly a member of the Educational Technology Department at LIU Post. Though she holds a full-time position within Teaching and Learning, she has taught in a number of departments on campus, including the English Department (where she taught freshmen writing classes), the Counseling and Development Department (where she taught educational research courses), and the Psychology Department (where she currently teaches human development courses and has in the past taught cognitive psychology, personality psychology, and industrial organizational psychology). Dr. Dornisch is also certified to teach Adolescent English Education in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
Research and scholarship interests include learning strategies and instructional manipulations; perceptions of technology; outcomes assessment and assessment tools; motivation; self-determination; self-regulated learning; personality; academic self-efficacy; belongingness; values affirmation; and situational interest.
