Description

Pianist AeRee Kim studied with Ruth Slenczynska at Southern Illinois University as a full scholarship student. After receiving her B.M. and M.M. from S.I.U., she went on to pursue further graduate studies at the Juilliard School of Music with Ania Dorfmann and Jacob Lateiner. Following receipt of her M.M. from Juilliard, she continued her studies with Martin Canin at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

Over the years, Dr. Kim has been the winner of several competitions, including the American Music Scholarship Association Competition, the Music Teachers National Association competition, and the Rosanna M. Enlow Young Artist Competition. Winning the St. Louis Artist Presentation Award led to her debut recital in St. Louis, which received much critical acclaim. Her New York debut recital at Carnegie Recital Hall was similarly well-received. Dr. Kim has also given several recitals in major concert halls in her native country, South Korea.

&In addition to solo performances, Dr. Kim has appeared with orchestras and chamber groups in the United States and South Korea. As a chamber musician, she has performed at Merkin Concert Hall with the Atlantic Sinfonietta and in the Long Island Oyster Bay Beethoven Festival with the Virtuosi Woodwind Quintet.

Dr. Kim has been on the music faculty of Long Island University at LIU Post since 1991.
