Description
Dante Moratto has a resume that includes twenty years of teaching at New York University, Long Island University and Suffolk Community College. His extensive experience includes teaching Film, Media Arts, Music Industry Practices and Principles, Public Speaking and English Literature.
At Nassau Community College, Moratto served as a consultant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for the campus radio station WHPC. During this consultancy, he served as interim General Manager of the station for five years. Under his leadership, WHPC was featured in the New York Times in an article reporting on regional college stations that had a 24 hour format.
Before teaching on the college level, Moratto taught English and Mass Media at New Hyde Park Memorial High School. While he was coordinator of the Talented and Gifted program for 10 years, he was awarded the prestigious NYSEC “Program for Excellent” Award for his “Power of Mythology” course. He was additionally responsible for developing the district’s first film and mass media program for a college-credit, senior level course with Long Island University. During his tenure at NHP, he also provided his students with opportunities to participate in the iconic MTV Network productions, Total Request Live, and Like We Care.
Specialties
Moratto has produced and hosted over 500 weekly, half-hour episodes of Rock Rap, a nationally recognized show currently airing on Cablevision Long Island. The program features interviews and performances of major record label recording artists and has featured hundreds artists since 1986. In his role of producer, he has provided footage of artist interviews to MTV, CNN, and News 12 Long Island. In 1992, 1993, and 1994, Rock Rap was nominated by leading music industry trade magazine, Billboard, for “Best Locally Produced Music Program. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the Music Video Association.
Independent of Rock Rap, Moratto has additionally directed and produced a variety of video programs and presentations, including a NY State Middle States presentation, for the Sewanhaka Central High School District.
