Description
Dr. Redden joined LIU Post as an assistant professor in the fall of 2012. Prior to that, he received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Notre Dame, was a mathematics postdoc at Stony Brook and Michigan State, and spent time in Bonn, Germany at the Hausdorff Institute for Mathematics and Max Planck Institute for Mathematics. His mathematical research is in the areas of algebraic topology and differential geometry. He studies relationships between global qualitative and local quantitative properties of geometric spaces, including how they are affected by the presence of symmetries.
At LIU Post, Dr. Redden teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses and enjoys supervising students' Oral Presentation projects. He also serves as the Mathematics Department's Graduate Studies Director, oversees the undergraduate math/physics tutoring lab, and is the faculty sponsor for Post's chapter of the Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME) math honor society.
