Description

Ron Stanton has been an adjunct professor of trombone at C.W. Post campus since 2004. He divides his time between performance, teaching and arranging works for the trombone ensemble.  In 2009 he was appointed Director of Brass Studies.

Formerly Bass Trombonist with the Cosmopolitan Symphony Orchestra(1970-82), these performances at Avery Fischer Hall have included standard repertoire as well as modern and commissioned works. Some of the concerts have been under the direction of the following conductors; Abba Bogan, Leon Thompson, Michael Hammond, David Amram, Gerald Schwartz, Helen Quach, David Gilbert Amy Kaiser,Anthony Morse, Joanne Falleta and Gens Nygaard. Other freelance performances have been in  Opera, Chamber Music, Concert Band, Broadway Shows and Stage Band. Also a rostered member of Apollo`s Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra (1990-92), and many Early Music performances on Bass Sackbutt. As a founding member of Celebrations Brass Quintet he maintains an active Brass Chamber Music performance schedule and also performs with the Massapequa Philharmonic Orchestra on Bass Trombone. Continuing a long term association with commercial and jazz artists such as Abbey Lane, Helen Reddy, Neal Sedaka, Laura Branigan, Patti Page and Frankie Lane and the Big Bands of Lionel Hampton, Les Elgart, Urbie Green, Wayne Andre, Louie Bellson and  recent "Rat Pack" shows in Atlantic City, Ron performs locally with the LPJO Jazz Orchestra.

Throughout a wide and varied career in performance and teaching, Ron enjoys the family life with his wife Camille and two sons Michael and Jack.
