Amy Wysoker is professor emerita in the department of Nursing at LIU-Post. She taught in the department for 18 years. She is a certified clinical specialist in adult psychiatric mental health nursing and a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She is also in private practice as a psychiatric/mental health consultant and a medical-legal nurse consultant in Forest Hills, NY. She taught a graduate professional issues course for advance practice nurses and nurse educators and a graduate course on family, social, ethical and policy issues. On the undergraduate level, she taught a professional issues course, a community health course, a communication course and a research course. She has been active in many professional nursing organizations and has assumed leadership positions. Dr. Wysoker has published on ethical and legal issues in psychiatric nursing. Her research interests and publications pertain to obesity, bariatric surgery and weight loss and weight gain.
