ACCREDITATION


All undergraduate and graduate programs at LIU Post are registered with the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. In addition to the entire University, various other academic programs in the College of Education, Information and Technology are specially accredited by professional organizations, signifying they meet the highest standards of educational quality as determined by leaders in the field. 

LIU is currently pursuing accreditation of its educator preparation programs by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Pursuant to §52.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, the educator preparation programs offered by LIU are considered to be continuously accredited for purposes of meeting the New York State requirement that all such programs maintain continuous accreditation.  

Education preparation programs are housed in the College of Education, Information and Technology. Continuous accreditation by AAQEP applies to: programs in the Departments of Teaching and Learning, the educational leadership and the educational technology programs in DELTA (the Department of Educational Leadership, Technology, and Administration), Art Education, and Music Education. All other CEIT programs are also accredited:  the counseling programs by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the library programs by the American Library Association (ALA), and the speech pathology and communication science programs by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
