Hands-On, Intensive Program

Film majors learn to communicate and interpret the world around them through courses in all levels of production, editing, screenwriting, cinematography, sound, producing, and film history. Our faculty are all working professionals in diverse areas of the field, including writers, directors, cinematographers documentarians and critics – award-winning professionals with top-level experience and credentials.

The New Hollywood

CBS’s Blue Bloods and Madam Secretary, Fox’s The Following, and the Castle Rock Entertainment film The Rewrite, have all filmed at LIU Post, bringing a parade of Hollywood stars to campus that includes Oscar-winners J.K. Simmons and Marisa Tomei, six-time Emmy winner Allison Janney, and Golden Globe winners Henry Winkler, Hugh Grant, and Kevin Bacon.

Just 25 miles east of New York City, students have access to the No. 1 most filmed location in the world and plentiful industry connections and opportunities. B.F.A. in Broadcasting

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Broadcasting opens you to the world of radio, video, webcasting and multimedia, and prepares you for careers as varied as documentary producers, television writers, web video producers, news anchors, writers, radio broadcasters, or interview show hosts.Courses cover this field's technical and creative aspects, including new technologies, audio and video editing, scriptwriting, production news, talk shows, music, and other show formats.

WCWP on the Air

At LIU Post, you’ll not only get your voice out there over the airwaves, you’ll also produce your own radio show! This hands-on experience will give you the opportunity to script, record, and edit audio stories and broadcast your work to WCWP (88.1FM). Gain valuable audio production skills used in professional radio, work side-by-side with radio professionals from New York City, and learn from WCWP executive producers using state-of-the-art equipment and studios.

Artist to Professional

Study with professional artists and leading scholars, as well as visiting guest artists from around the world. You will build a solid foundation in drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture and printmaking, while exploring the history and theory of human creativity in courses that range from the arts of the ancient Near East and the Mediterranean to contemporary photography and digital design.

Clinical Arts Therapy

Art therapists are involved with disability centers, psychiatric hospitals, special education programs, drug abuse centers, community mental health centers, other health institutions and prisons. The program explores the interaction of the visual arts with psychological theories and practice and emphasizes preparation for graduate training in clinical art therapy.

Capture the World As You See It

The Photography program provides a foundation in the history, aesthetics, and technical evolution of photography. Course topics range from newspaper photojournalism to the mechanics and aesthetics of lighting, techniques of photo illustration, survey of world art, and experimental approaches in a computer-driven, digital environment.

Digital Art & Design

The 120-credit BFA in Digital Art and Design is tailored for students with strong computer and design skills who seek training in the latest technologies and the chance to transform the visual landscape of technologies yet to come. Students learn the fundamentals of art history, drawing and illustration and apply long-established principles to the evolving aesthetics of computer-generated art and electronic media.

Digital Game Design & Development

The Digital Game Design and Development program offers a project-based curriculum that allows students to develop skills in all areas of game development, including game design, computer programing, and visual design. The program focuses heavily on game creation, where students will work on several solo and group-based projects, giving them a chance to develop a broad range of game development skills.
