Tutoring Program

The Learning Center offers free tutoring services to Long Island University students across all academic disciplines. Tutoring is provided by carefully selected and trained tutors who assist with specific subjects, assignments, or projects. Tutors are LIU undergraduate and graduate students and/or adjunct faculty who have exceptional knowledge and skills in their particular subject area. In addition, tutors assist with study skills, note-taking tips, time management techniques, and test-taking strategies.

Tutors are available for many of the core areas of study including: Math, English, Psychology, History, Political science, Biology, Economics and Accounting, etc. Tutors are hired based on student demand for assistance in a particular subject area. To request a specific subject, simply contact the Learning Center to get started.

Tutors assist student in the following ways:

• One-on-One tutoring for Core Classes and Specific Subjects
• Group tutoring and support
• General learning skill and strategy development
• Academic success workshops

Make an Appointment

While an appointment is not always necessary, it is highly recommended for students. To make an appointment with the Learning Center, contact the campus Learning Center. The Learning Center is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and offers in-person and virtual appointments for students. Tutoring sessions are generally 45 to 60 minutes, however, can be customized to meet each student’s needs.
